2026 University of Notre Dame Depth Chart
Notre Dame’s 2026 quarterback situation is as clear-cut as it gets: sophomore CJ Carr is the unquestioned QB1, and his ceiling is enormous. After spending 2025 as Riley Leonard’s understudy and flashing elite traits in limited action, Carr enters the season as a Heisman frontrunner at +800 odds. His arm talent and command of Mike Denbrock’s offense give him legitimate QB1 upside in college fantasy. Behind Carr, redshirt freshman Blake Hebert holds down the backup role, with true freshman Noah Grubb pushing for reps this spring – neither carries standalone fantasy value barring injury.
At running back, sophomore Aneyas Williams steps into the lead role following the departures of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price to the NFL. Williams profiles as a three-down back with the talent to be a fantasy difference-maker, though a significant elbow injury from last fall will limit his spring contact and bears monitoring heading into fall camp. Behind him, Nolan James Jr. and Kedren Young will compete for the complementary role. The backfield has impressive depth on paper, but Williams’ health will be the key variable for dynasty managers.
The wide receiver room is loaded but comes with questions. Junior Jaden Greathouse is the presumptive WR1 after a frustrating 2025 limited to just four games by a lingering hamstring, and his spring availability is again limited. Jerome Bettis Jr. (leaner at 199 pounds this spring) and Cam Williams flashed during early practices. At tight end, Cooper Flanagan, James Flanigan, and Ty Washington are rotating with the first team – this committee limits any single TE’s fantasy ceiling until one separates. With Carr’s talent distributing the ball in a loaded offense, the Notre Dame passing game should support multiple fantasy-relevant options.
