What's your favorite place to eat in Gainesville?

I live in Jacksonville so I really don’t eat in Gainesville all too often. I’m a big fan of Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille and the ambiance it brings as it really shows off Steve Spurrier’s career. The food is good and the atmosphere around a big game is hard to beat.

Overall, how do you believe the offense will compare to the 2022 version?

It will certainly look different without the athleticism of Anthony Richardson. Seems like Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz will be the starting QB and it’ll be an offense that will rely on an offensive line and two excellent running backs, Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne. The biggest difference will be not having the explosive runs from the QB position.

What do you expect from the QB position in 2023?

Certainly will miss the big plays on the ground that Anthony Richardson brought. I expect Mertz will be pretty conservative within the offense that will rely on the ground attack. There may be more consistency in the short to intermediate passing game, but there’s a worry if big, downfield plays can happen with Mertz.

How do you see the workload at RB being distributed?

The top two backs, Montrell Johnson and Trevor Eteinne, will lead the way. I look for both backs to get 12-15 carries a game. Tulane transfer, Cam Carrol, will be the third back in the rotation and can be used in short yardage situations and as a receiver out of the backfield. True freshman, Treyaun Webb may garner some carries, but won’t demand as many carries with three good backs in front of him.

How does the offensive line compare to the 2022 group?

Florida loses four big-time contributors along the offensive line: O’Cyrus Torrence, Richard Gouraige, Ethan White, and Michael Tarquin. White and Tarquin would be starters for the 2023 Gators but decided to hit the transfer portal. Florida brought in four transfer offensive lineman: Micah Mazzccua, Damieon George, Kiyaunta Goodwin, and Lyndell Hudson. Mazzccua transferred from Baylor as an instant fill-in at LG, but was injured in spring. He should be back in time for fall camp. George and Goodwin are fighting for reps at RT, but George can also play RG. Hudson may just take the RT job from both of them in the fall. The battles are on the right side as Austin Barber is solidified at LT, Mazzccua at LG, and Kingsley Eguakun at C. This group has bodies, but the right side remains a concern.

What do you think the distribution will be to the WR/TE's?

Ricky Pearsall should be the leading receiver in terms of catches. He returns with a group that really needs to have a few guys step up. It may be a group that relies on true freshmen Andy Jean, Aidan Mizell, and Eugene Wilson. Veterans Marcus Burke, Ja’Quavion Fraziars, and Caleb Douglas have the opportunity to step-up, but if they don’t these freshmen will be ready early.

For our dynasty fantasy freaks, who are some young players that stand out as potential future breakout players?

Trevor Eteinne at running back is for sure ready for an even bigger role. He broke out last season, but may be overlooked outside of Gainesville. If looking for a late steal, I’d probably go true FR WRs Eugene Wilson and Andy Jean.
