Georgia Tech enters 2026 with a genuine but tilted quarterback competition. Alberto Mendoza is the early spring frontrunner after backing up Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza at national champion Indiana — posting a 75% completion rate, 286 passing yards, 190 rushing yards, and 6 total TDs in limited action. New OC George Godsey has articulated a ball-security-first, run-heavy philosophy that fits Mendoza’s dual-threat profile well. Graham Knowles has been in the system longer and provides a legitimate push, but Mendoza’s rushing floor gives him standalone fantasy value even if passing volume is modest.
The RB room is legitimately elite. Justice Haynes arrives after posting 857 yards and 10 TDs on 7.1 YPC in just 7 games at Michigan — a 5-star pedigree who was the most sought-after portal back available. Malachi Hosley returns as a returning all-ACC performer with 634 yards, 7.3 YPC, and 7 TDs in 2025 with legitimate pass-catching ability. He’s not a handcuff but a co-starter with real fantasy value. The GT staff historically runs a two-back system and won’t hesitate to feature both. Trelain Maddox is the distant RB3.
WR1 Isaiah Fuhrmann is the most important offensive addition in this portal class — a 6-4 wideout who posted 46 catches, 907 yards, and 9 TDs in the CAA at Elon. He’s the projected X receiver and the only true separation threat on the roster. Jordan Allen slots as the reliable second option, while Jaylen Mbakwe is a 5-star athlete converting from CB with elite raw ability but zero WR production — a boom/bust WR3. At TE, Chris Corbo is the clear TE1 as a two-time FCS All-American from Dartmouth who profiles as the seam-stretching weapon Godsey’s offense needs. Gavin Harris gives GT real TE2 production depth. Aidan Birr returns as the proven all-ACC kicker.
