2025 QB Rankings for College Fantasy Football

It’s finally time for the CFBDynasty 2025 College Fantasy Football QB Rankings, where we break down the top quarterbacks in college football based on live projections that will continue to update until kickoff in Week 1. Whether you’re drafting your redraft squad or getting an early edge for DFS and best ball, this is your go-to spot for QB rankings that actually mean something.

These aren’t just surface-level rankings — they’re powered by a proven projection model built from three years of head coach data, adjusted by our team to account for surrounding talent, coaching changes, and offensive shifts. For example, when a dual-threat quarterback steps into a system previously led by a pocket passer, we adjust accordingly — not just for the QB, but for all skill positions in the offense.

Below you’ll find our live Top 10 QB rankings, full projections, and analysis on sleepers, busts, and breakout candidates.

Quick Notes

  • #1 – Cade Klubnik (Clemson): A returning top performer and dual-threat QB that has his best WR corps to date.
  • #4 – Maverick McIvor (WKU): WKU returns to a pocket passer which will boost WKU WR’s near the top of CFF weekly rankings likely again.
  • #8 – Arch Manning (Texas): A dual-threat QB and former top recruit that has everything necessary to make a run at CFF QB1.

How the Rankings Work

Unlike other rankings built on hope and vibes, our projections start with hard data:

  • Three-year positional output for each head coach, not just the team.

  • Adjusted for:
    ✅ Scheme changes
    ✅ Incoming/returning weapons
    ✅ Staff transitions
✅ QB play style (rusher vs passer)

We also layer in context from depth charts, injury news, and on-the-ground intel from beat writers and spring game footage.

🚀 Sleeper & Breakout QBs to Target in 2025

  • #19 – Micah Alejado (Hawaii): Alejado might be the next Timmy Chang while Timmy Chang is now calling the plays.
  • #25 – DJ Lagway (Florida): One of the most talented QB’s in the country with incredible upside behind one of the best offensive lines in the SEC.
  • #27 – Fernando Mendoza (Indiana): A transfer from Cal that threw for over 3k yards last season finds himself in a great offense for producing many more touchdowns.

🧨 QBs to Fade (Bust Watch)

  • #11 – Byrum Brown (USF): #11 at least as of this post, likely to drop once the strength of schedule is accounted for. Brown is unstartable for the majority of the season.
  • #38 – Aidan Chiles (Mich State): A talent who could make this suggestion look foolish but he needs a dramatic jump to realize the fantasy potential we saw going into the ’24 season.
  • #6 – John Mateer (Oklahoma): Extremely productive transfer coming into a team rebuilding the offensive line. Has potential to be great but OL rebuild is the hinge-point.
