2025 RB Rankings for College Fantasy Football

Welcome to the official 2025 College Fantasy Football RB Rankings from CFBDynasty — your home for live, continually updated projections and expert breakdowns of the top college running backs in fantasy football. These rankings are perfect for redraft leagues, best ball formats, and DFS prep.

Our rankings don’t just rely on last year’s stats. Every projection starts with three years of RB production under the current head coach, not just the team. From there, our team adjusts based on the player’s surrounding talent, changes in offensive staff, and projected play style (e.g., if a dual-threat QB is taking over, we lower RB targets and red-zone touches).

Whether you’re chasing consistency or looking to land the next breakout stud, these rankings give you the edge.

Quick Notes

  • #1 – Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame): It’s incredibly rare when a returning RB that had 1100 yards and 17 touchdowns has so much more potential with Notre Dame transitioning to a pocket passer from Riley Leonard who graduated after 900 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.
  • #4 – Cam Cook (Jax St): The talented RB transfered into the ultimate rushing offense to showcase his skills.
  • #6 – Darius Taylor (Minn): If healthy, Taylor could easily compete for RB1.

How the Rankings Work

Every RB projection starts with real offensive trends:

  • 3-year RB production averages under the head coach — including split usage between RB1 and RB2.

  • Adjustments for:

    • Offensive line turnover

    • New or departing offensive coordinators

    • QB style (rushing QBs = fewer targets + fewer red-zone carries for RBs)

    • Expected game scripts & play volume

This helps us predict touch share, TD upside, and pass-game involvement more accurately than just copying last year’s stats.

🚀 Sleeper & Breakout RBs to Target in 2025

  • #27 – Quinten Joyner (Texas Tech): Transfer from USC should see a healthy amount of targets in the passing game while also dominating the rushing attempts.
  • #13 – Jam Miller (Alabama): The transition from Jalen Milroe to a pocket passer – in addition to his talented backup transferring to Mich – it opens up a huge workload behind an excellent OL.
  • #8 – Al-Jay Henderson (Buffalo): Henderson is in a system that can produce a RB1 – should have a high floor with incredible upside.

🧨 RBs to Fade (Bust Watch)

  • #15 – Quintrevion Wisner (Texas): A surprise in ’24 but we could see reduced TD opportunities with Arch Manning leaching redzone carries and the super-talented Baxter returning from injury.
  • #38 – Darrion Dupree (Wisconsin): Could be a great player but faces Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, Iowa, and Michigan. Yikes.
  • #42 – Jaydn Ott (Oklahoma): A dual-threat QB is taking over, the OL is in a total overhaul, and they face an incredibly difficult schedule.
