Last week, we saw some breakout performances out of Brock Purdy and Dorian Thompson-Robinson – both well above their average, scoring over 60 points! Neither of them topped QB Anthony Gordon who scored 9 touchdowns and still lost to UCLA.
Let’s look forward to the week 5 rankings and matchups for college fantasy football.

Week 5 Key Matchups
Arkansas State at Troy
The news recently broke that Arkansas State’s starting QB Logan Bonner will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury. The backup Layne Hatcher, transfer from Alabama, will make his first start. He’s got a couple of excellent receivers to get the ball to in Omar Bayless (tied for 2nd nationally in rec TD) and Kirk Merritt.
Troy is projected to win the almost a TD, maybe the spread will increase with the injury to Bonner. QB Kaleb Barker is off to a hot start with 1,000 yards and 9 TD against only 1 INT.
Ohio State at Nebraska
We’ll likely get to see Justin Fields throw to wide receivers who don’t have 8 yards of separation. The numbers for Fields year-to-date are fantastic for fantasy owners, but Ohio State hasn’t played anyone with a pulse yet.
Nebraska hasn’t performed up to the expectations of many preseason, maybe we expected too much out of Frost and his sophomore QB. I believe Frost’s team will be crisp by the middle of the season, sometimes it takes a game like this to bring the best out of your team. College Gameday will be in town and all eyes will be on Martinez, Washington, and company Saturday night.
