We’re already in Week 3 and the evenings are beginning to cool down here in Florida. Teams are primarily in conference play now and we’ll see a lot of the data begin to level out. During the first couple of weeks, they’re the most difficult for us to rank due to lack of data and heavy mismatches.
Take a look at our rankings for week 3 along with some of the key matchups from a fantasy perspective.
If you’re struggling to find some of the Group of 5(hate that name) games, ESPN+ allows you to watch many through the app. You get that in addition to their paywalled content. Other exclusive shows include Peyton’s Places and the new show featuring Les Miles called Miles to Go.

Week 3 Key Matchups
Each week we’ll take a look at a few matchups we’re excited to watch. We’ll look at individual player matchups, depth chart struggles, or simply break down games that have a huge fantasy implications.
Washington State at Houston
Ok we’ll start with the obvious matchup that should provide fantasy fireworks.
The over/under is 73.5 with State favored by 9.5, so Houston is expected to put up some points – rightfully so. It’ll be interesting to see how Houston is able to run the ball with Kyle Porter, a potentially good play in DFS. Washington State has had a sneaky-good defense which does provide some pause for the owners of D’Eriq King and the rest of the offense.
Washington State has been excellent with Gordon at the helm, spreading the ball around to a bunch of different WR’s. Year to date, Borghi hasn’t got the catches we expected based on previous numbers – that is likely to change this week.
USC at BYU
We’re really excited to watch BYU to see how Zach Wilson performs against USC. The sophomore dual threat QB has shown excellent skills and has the opportunity to improve his fantasy stock with a big performance. BYU has had a tough schedule having already faced Utah and Tennessee. After USC and Washington, their schedule lightens up for the rest of the fantasy regular season – which could be great for owners of Wilson.
USC, although they’re 2-0 and coming off of a nice win, seems fragile from a distance. Their coach was already on the hot seat and now with the Athletic Director gone, you have to believe Helton will be gone at the end of the season too. Will they rally around the lame duck coach or fold? We’re certainly excited to see Slovis and the rest of the offense on the road.
USC is favored by 4, should be a great game.
Colorado State at Arkansas
CSU’s QB Collin Hill has had an efficient start to the season with 70% completion percentage and 7 TD. It’ll be interesting to see if freshman WR Dante Wright continues his hot start. He’s got touches through the air and on the ground. This is the type of game former WR1 Preston Williams would’ve shown out, we’ll see if Warren Jackson does the same.
Nick Starkel will be making his first start for the Razorbacks and he has a fantastic opportunity to help the offense break out. For dynasty league owners, is always fun to see these freshman WR’s too.
