[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Purdue needs to bring it 100% this season, and though the team’s spring game was a high-scoring one, there’s still a lot of work to be done. [wp-svg-icons icon=”volume-medium” wrap=”i” size=”20px”] It has a chance to improve but that improvement is dependent on the offensive line. Only two starters return and Purdue will be inexperienced up the middle unless coach Jeff Brohm adds a graduate transfer or two. The receiver position will feature talent but is young from top to bottom. However, the return of Rondale Moore gives quarterback Elijah Sindelar a No. 1 target. Sindelar has a big arm and should be able to stretch the field as long as the protection holds up.

[wp-svg-icons icon=”volume-medium” wrap=”i” size=”20px”] Sindelar is the top quarterback but keeping him healthy is the No. 1 key. He missed the last five practices in the spring due to a hyperextended knee. Sindelar has struggled to stay healthy but can lead this offense to a big year if has time in the pocket. Jack Plummer, a redshirt freshman, is Sindelar’s backup.

[wp-svg-icons icon=”volume-medium” wrap=”i” size=”20px”] It’s group with limited depth. Purdue lost its top two rushers – D.J. Knox and Markell Jones – who were dependable and produced enough big plays to give the offense a running attack. Tario Fuller is the No. 1 back coming out of spring but health has been an issue. He’s versatile enough to develop into a nice weapon but he hasn’t been able to stay on the field. Zander Horvath is promising but has limited experience.

[wp-svg-icons icon=”volume-medium” wrap=”i” size=”20px”] Only two starters return and they’re both tackles – Grant Hermanns and Matt McCann. Both have plenty of experience but Hermanns has missed games the last two years because of injuries and the current backups don’t have much experience. The issue is up the middle. Purdue will have a new center and two new guards. Viktor Beach, the projected starter at center, missed most of spring practice. A graduate transfer would help boost the line and might determine how successful the offense will be.

[wp-svg-icons icon=”volume-medium” wrap=”i” size=”20px”] Receivers will get most of the targets but tight end Brycen Hopkins could have a big year. With a talented group of receivers, the middle of the field has a chance to be open more and that’s where Hopkins can make plays.

[wp-svg-icons icon=”volume-medium” wrap=”i” size=”20px”] Rondale Moore had a great freshman year and you can expect similar production. Freshman receivers David Bell and Milton Wright should see early action and could produce decent numbers.
